Join us at the Amery Area Public Library for a summer of reading and activities for all ages!

The program starts on Monday, June 8th and runs through Friday, July 31st.

 

Summer Reading Challenges

Youth (0-18) Challenge

For every 100 minutes that you read, you get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize! Our prizes this summer include LEGO sets, a dino scooter, and popular books! Read 800 minutes and get a free book to take home and keep!

You can also earn a raffle ticket for each program that you attend. See our calendar for our full schedule.

You can track your reading using a paper reading log that you can pick up at the library (or print at home!), or track you reading virtually on the Beanstack website.

Summer Reading Performers & Special Events

Endangered Raptors - at Danielson Stage

Thursday, June 18th at 3 PM

Meet live raptors Aldo and Carson from Wisconsin’s Northwoods with the Cable Natural History Museum! Birds of prey are adapted to face the challenges of living in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. Find out what tools and strategies these birds use to survive and what we can do to help. Thanks to the Amery Woman’s Club for sponsoring this program.

Reptiles Around the World - at the Amery Area Public Library

Monday, June 29th at 1:30 and 3:45 PM, choose one!

Snake Discovery is back! Learn about reptiles, lizards, geckos, and snakes. After the presentation, attendees have an opportunity to touch and hold the reptiles. Please choose one program to attend.

Starlab Planetarium - at the Amery Middle School

Thursday, July 9th at 3:30 PM

Explore projected images of the night sky, the Earth, the Moon, planets, the Milky Way and more from inside the inflatable Starlab dome.

Whale and Fossil Discovery - at the Amery Middle School

Thursday, July 16th – Drop in style program, anytime between 12 pm and 5 pm

Did you know that Amery used to be on the bottom of the ocean floor?!? Walk inside a HUGE 50 foot whale and hold fossils and replicas! There will also be other stations like Storytime, face painting and more. There might even be a T. Rex running around! Thanks to the Friends of the Amery Area Public Library for sponsoring this program.

Kick-off Event

Unearth a story at the Library this summer! Pick up your reading logs, assemble dinosaur skeletons, adopt a dinosaur, and more at this all-ages event!

Throughout the Summer

Paperback Rider, our book bike, will be at the Farmers Market, Music on the River, and other special events this summer! We carry a different selection of books each time we go out, so you can check out a new book when you see us! You can also get a library card at the book bike.
